The Fratellis - We Need Medicine

Here's what I thought of The Fratellis new album, “ We Need Medicine.” Remember – all scores are out of a possible 10.

Halloween Blues” - A straightforward rock and roll ass kicking track. I liked so much about this – from the vocals to the energy to the attitude. Nice job. Score: 9

This Old Ghost Town” - I liked the energy of this track, but the keyboards kind of drove me batty. Also, the phrasing of the lyrics and music annoyed me a bit as well. Score: 4

She's Not Gone Yet But She's Leaving” - Normally, when a singer repeats the name of the song over and over it annoys me, but in this instance I totally got into this track. It almost had a Fastball kind of feel to the rhythm – which I totally dug. Score: 8

Seven Nights Seven Days” - What I like most about this rock track is that is comes off as honest. No pretension, just rock and roll riffs and clean strong vocals. I like it very much. Score: 9

Shotgun Shoes” - Musically, this song interested me somewhat, but the phrasing once again put me off. I just didn't get it – and it seemed to go one for too long. Score: 5

Whisky Saga” - On this track, the phrasing totally pulled me in. This track is fun, hooky, and engaging. I love the vocals and the energy. Score: 8

This Is Not The End Of The World” - A groove heavy track with strong vocals and a hooky chorus. Score: 8

Jeannie Nitro” - An excellent surf rock track. What I love most about this song it that it tells a story. I miss storytelling in songs. The music is engaging and the vocals are inviting. All around a fabulous track. Score: 10

We Need Medicine” - Just a fun hooky rock track. I enjoyed the vocals and the music overall. Nicely done. Score: 8

Rock N Roll Will Break Your Heart” - Wow – a highlight of the entire album. Excellent lyrics and awesome vocals. Engaging music. Everything works on this track. Score: 10

Until She Saves My Soul” - A fun song to listen to, but in this instance the repetitive chorus worked my nerves. Score: 6

Average Track Score: 7.7 – pretty solid. Would I recommend this album to buy? ABSOLUTELY.

Escalader,

Jim
