Cassadee Pope - Frame By Frame

Here is what I thought of Cassadee Pope's new album, “Frame By Frame.” Remember, all scores are out of a possible 10.

Good Times” - Pope's voice comes off a bit squeaky on this track, but then again, Dolly Parton can come off squeaky as well. A fun pop song and a nice kick off to the album. I could easily hear this on country radio. Score: 7

Champagne” - I would give the lyrics about a three, but the arrangement is nice and Pope's vocals are infectious. Score: 6

Wasting All These Years” - A stellar track. Amazing arrangement – it hits on all cylinders. Pope knocks the vocals out of the park. Sure to be a radio hit. The only thing I didn't need was the last two lines – they need to cut those out. Score: 10

I Wish I Could Break Your Heart” - At first I thought this was going to be a filler track, but the song grew on me more as the track progressed. Nice job. Once again, Pope's vocals are what did it for me. Score: 7

Everybody Sings” - Oh dear. This track has Miley Cyrus written all over – and not in a good way. Pope's vocals are way better than what is displayed on this track and don't even get me started about the “rapping.” Score: 0

You Hear A Song” - OK, now the hit train is back on the tracks. An mid tempo kind of ballad. Pope's vocals soar and make this track quite enjoyable. Score: 7

This Car” - Not a bad track, but not my favorite either. Kind of filler. Nuff said. Score: 5

One Song Away”- A beautifully written ballad and Pope sings the hell out of it. A highlight of the album. Score: 10

Easier To Lie”- The lyrics come off overly cheesy and juvenile, but the arrangement is decent and Pope tries to save the song with her stunning vocals. That being said, when the source material is sub-par, there is only so much she can do to make it work. Score: 5

11” - I am so screwed. This song about divorce and the inner workings of a child’s mind screwed me up. Every time Pope sings “I wish I'd never turned eleven” its like a sucker punch to my super ego. (Wikipedia it!) A brilliantly written song, it tapped in to my own 11-year old little Jimmy as I watched my own father leave. (Well I was 7, but you get the idea.) Nathan Chapman – you will be getting the bill from my shrink for making all those repressed memories come to the surface once again. That is if I can ever get out of this fetal position. Score: 10

Proved You Wrong” - A decent enough up tempo track to end the album. Nothing too outstanding, but it is a toe tapper. Score: 6

Average Track Score: 6.7. I thought it would be higher, but that one bad track really brought down the average. Would I recommend this album to he bought? HELL YES!

Escalader,

Jim
